Back in the day when the world felt slow,
No screens in our palms, just the sun’s warm glow.
We rode our bikes till the streetlights shined,
Dinner called us home right on Sunday time.
Gas was thirty cents, fill ’er up and go,
No seatbelts clicking, just the radio.
We walked through rain, snow, blazing heat,
To the schoolhouse door on our sturdy feet.
Neighborhood kids in every yard,
Baseball, tin can alley, afternoons weren’t hard.
Oh, those days of firefly skies,
Sundays with the fam and laughter in our eyes.
Life moved at a rhythm, steady and slow,
Now it’s clicks and screens wherever we go.
But when I close my eyes, I can still rewind —
Simple joys, good old times.
After school, we’d grab a ball,
Play ’til supper and hear the dinner call.
Football, cards, and sweet iced tea,
Everybody cheering at the jamboree.
No internet buzzing, just voices loud,
Talking face-to-face with the neighborhood crowd.
High school sports, we gave our best,
Cheering in the stands in our Sunday best.
Summer nights with stars so bright,
We chased the dusk ’til the porch light.
Oh, those days of firefly skies,
Sundays with the fam and laughter in our eyes.
Life moved at a rhythm, steady and slow,
Now it’s clicks and screens wherever we go.
But when I close my eyes, I can still rewind —
Simple joys, good old times.
Now the world spins fast, and tech is king,
We’ve got answers quick for everything.
We text and tap, we swipe all day,
But I remember when we found our way…
Oh, those days of firefly skies,
Sundays with the fam and laughter in our eyes.
Life moved at a rhythm, steady and slow,
Now it’s clicks and screens wherever we go.
But when I close my eyes, I can still rewind —
Simple joys, good old times.
